This would be good for baby showers too.

  1. Cute! Is it okay if I tweet this? :)

Btw, I followed Martha Stewart's recipe for the strawberry cupcakes to a tee ... Colin will love them! CJ and Nate went crazy over them (although I didn't let them have any w/ the frosting). :)

Happy early birthday to the big guy!

  2. By all mean, please!

I am so bad at following recipes!!! I always feel like I have to tweak something. I tried to make macarons and it was a DISASTER. I ruined two baking sheets (still usable, but they do not look pretty)... I should write a post about as a cautionary tale for all those who wants to try making it.

  3. And you know how I ruined the sheets? I didn't use the parchment paper, I thought, "Baking sheets are non-stick...". It did cross my mind that the recipe did not use any butter to give a little boost to the non-stickiness, but I was like, why not. Ugh.

  4. I love to experiment and tweak recipes, too. But something I've learned is that it's best to experiment AFTER trying out a recipe as written and then figuring out ways to adapt it. At least for me.

The strawberry cupcakes are amazing; they are my absolute favorite to date. You won't regret it. The frosting you can play around with. Swiss meringue buttercream takes a little more time than cream cheese frosting, but it was worth the effort!

For macarons, you should look into this book: http://madaboutmacarons.com. The author and I have befriended via Foodbuzz (really sweet lady!). She has macaron tips posted on the homepage.
